The warehouses are amongst the most fascinated buildings in Donegal.
|
|
|
|
They formed the backdrop for the highly acclaimed television series
"The Hanging Gale".
This was made in 1995 and tells about the Famine in Ireland.

You should also visit the Ramelton Story Exhibition in the refurbished Steamboat Store where it presents the story of Ramelton from its earliest settlement to the present day. The Genealogical Research Centre for County Donegal is also located in this centre. |

It began with a small dedicated group of people in 1970.
For the past 39 years, the Lennon Festival has continued to surpass itself again and again.
The tradition takes place every July with a variety of events, including the "Queen of the Lennon",
Live Music, Singing Pubs, the Carnival Parade etc. |

The Town Hall was built in 1878 with money donated by the inhabitants.
The restoration ended in 2005, again donated by the Locals.
The local pantomime group, founded in 1956, uses the Town Hall
for their spectacularly performances.

Priscilla, a wonderful goose who lays golden eggs - a possible metaphor for the hope we all need in the so-called ‘current climate'.
The show will take place from
Mon. 1st - Sat. 13th. March. 2010.

Every Saturday people from the region offer fruits, vegetables, cakes, bread, self-made marmalades, hand-crafts, plants and others, here at the Country market.

The River Lennon has a long tradition of being a valuable fishing river.
This has brought many tourists to the area.
Over the years, the river has produced some prizes fishing trophies.

Another fine exemplar can be seen at the Bridge Bar.

Located in the historic "Old Meeting House" the Library offers a great range of books and
audio / video tapes for everyone,

Since 2002, Ramelton has its own beautiful
Town Park.

into the Lough Swilly. |

One of Rameltons football teams are the SWILLY ROVERS.
The team has a great tradition and was founded in 1929. Their home ground is Swilly Park not too far from the town centre.
To play football all year round a floodlight Astro Turf pitch is available, established in 2004.

Locals in the town set up a town band in 1990 which has be going from strength to strength ever since, winning many
ULSTER and ALL IRELAND competitions.
Their last coup was a win of the
ALL IRELAND FLEADH CEOIL
in Tullamore in 2009... with their first ever senior title.
The town band teaches music to the youth in the community with instruments ranging from the tin-whistle to percussion instruments.
The band meets up once a week and travels to many competitions during the summer months.
