RAMELTON OLD NEWS
Ramelton Hoe Down this Friday night
The Ramelton Country Hoe Down will be held this Friday night at the Town Hall.
Proceedings begin at 7pm with a Parade around town followed by Bouncy Castle & Rodeo Bull
at the Town Hall. From 10 to 2 there will be music in the Town Hall
with Tea & Sandwiches served at 10pm.
There will be prizes for the best dressed Cow Boy, Cow Girl & spot prizes to be won
on the night and there will also be a door prize for anyone who purchases a ticket at €10 each
and does not attend. The committee have said that it's not necessary to have a ticket -
you can just come along on the night and pay at the door. All proceeds in aid of :
Donegal Branch of the Down Syndrome Association; Spina Bifida Association;
Autism Fam.Support, Donegal Branch; Chernobyl Children's Fund & Ramelton Care of the Aged.
Ramelton committee donates €11,000
The final meeting of the outgoing committee of Ramelton Community Care was held
on last Thursday night to decide how funds accumulated should be allocated.
This committee had been in place for over thirty years and in that time they carried out
sterling work in the community and providing essential services and meeting
the financial demands that continued to arise.
The members attending were Sally Stewart, Margaret Diver, Ann McGarvey and Ian McGarvey
who expressed sincere appreciation and thanks for the contribution and help the ladies
had given over all the years and to others who had helped in so many ways over three decades.
The total amount to allocate was €11,072.46. Since the committee had been wound up
at the end of Dec. 2007 it was agreed to pay for laundry service from Jan. to March.
A sum of €675 was allocated to the new Community Care Committee:
€2,397.46 was presented to the Ramelton Youth Project:
€2,000 to the Ramelton Church of Ireland Roof Fund:
€2,000 to the Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital and
€2,000 to Letterkenny Hospice.
Best wishes were extended to the new committee as it is important that our Elderly
be encouraged and supported to stay active and involved for health reasons.
The outgoing committee is thanked sincerely for their time and hard work
over the thirty years and they are wished well in the future.
CARE OF THE AGED - CAKE SALE
The Ramelton Care of the Aged Committee are holding a Cake Sale
on Thursday 3rd July from 9am at Gambles Square .
All proceeds are in aid of the Ramelton Care of the Aged.

Sympathy
Deepest sympathy is extended to Kevin Shiels, Carrygault
on the recent death of his father, Danny in Strabane. He was aged 72 and formerly from Lifford.
A regular visitor to Ramelton his sudden death at his home, The Barn, Strabane
shocked the community.
Deepest sympathy is extended to Kevin and the Shiels family on their bereavement.
Soccer
Swilly Rovers senior team will play at away to Drumkeen FC on this Thursday evening
26.06. at 7.15p.m. Best wishes to Cathal Diver, son of Edward and Caroline Diver, Rectory Road,
who will be part of the Donegal under 14 team which takes part in the Milk Cup in Derry in July.
Lotto
Last week's sellers prize in the Swilly Rovers Lotto was won by Steve's Cafe.
The 70 euro prize was shared between Paula Irwin and Stephen Donaghy.
The Lucky number winners were Peggy Crerand, Mary Boyce, B McGlinchey,
Garvan Boyce and Johnny Roche. Winning numbers were 2,4,13, 23 and bonus was 22.
This week's jackpot is €3,080 and the draw will take place on Thursday night in Conway 's Bar.
Bridge Club
Results from the Ramelton bride club meeting on the 11th June were,

Festival Singing Pub
The 2008 Festival singing pub contest will get underway on this Sunday night,
June 29th in the Lennon Lodge.
Followed during the week on Monday 30th June - O'Shaughnessy's Bar;
Tuesday July 1st - Bridge Bar; Wednesday July 2nd - Conway 's Bar;
Thursday July 3rd - O'Donnell Arms.
The festival will commence on Friday 4th July with country singer Margo
performing the opening of the festival.
Reunion Dance
Tickets for the St. Mary's School Reunion Dinner Dance in the Milford Inn
on Saturday 9th August will go on sale between 2nd and 10th June

Teddy Bears Picnic
A Teddy Bears Picnic will be held in the Ramelton Town Park on
Saturday June 28th from 2.00p.m. to 3.30p.m. 2-4 years old Teddy Bears Picnic,
5-7 years old Puppet Show and a disco will be held, 5 euro per child. All welcome.
Community Games
The Ramelton Community Games committee would like to thank all the children
who took part in the Community games in Milford on Sunday.
