The Rosses, a rocky coastal landscape with more than 100 lakes, is one of the most original corners of Donegal. Most people in this area are speaking Gaelic. The principal town of the Rosses is Dungloe, a busy market town. Every year thousands of visitors come for one of the most famous international festivals in Ireland,
the Mary from Dungloe.

The area is renowned for lake and river fishing with its 130 lakes, home to the Rosses Anglers Association.

If you travel along the coast you reach Burtonport, a small fishing village. Freshly prepared seafood can be enjoyed in the local restaurant nearby the harbour. From here car ferries sail to Donegal's largest Island, Aranmore.

The rugged Northwest coast is ideal for clifftop walks and from the south coast you can enjoy fine views across the Rosses.
