Glencolumbkille is a quiet picturesque little town. It is situated in a valley, which has a sandy beach and splendid cliffs at the Atlantic. You will find dolms, monuments and stone columns in the valley.

It looks like an area from a former time. Most people around Glencolumbkille speak Irish, much more than in other parts of Donegal.

The "Glen of St. Colmcille" is a popular place of pilgrimage. It reminds of the sacred Columba (Gaelic: Colmcille), who lived here and worshipped.

You should also visit the "Folk Village Museum" which depicts rural Donegal lifestyle through the centuries.
Father James McDyer founded it in 1950 that encouraged the locals to cooperate, to sell arts and crafts, and not to emigrate.
